Ford Model A Classic Car
Watercolor, 11” x 14”, 2016

Ford Model A…….Who wouldn’t want a Model A? The blue beauty in this painting was once a delivery truck. It was owned by a friend, and he refurbished it with lots of love. Sitting in this car is like experiencing time travel! Just think of what the world was like when it rolled off the assembly line back in 1929! It was ten years after World War I. The Country was at peace. The Great Depression hadn’t happened yet. There was hope, and there was promise in the heart of every American. And then there was this beautiful Model A roaring down the dusty streets of small towns and big cities, with it’s cobalt blue paint gleaming in the hot summer sun. The driver would beep and tip his hat as he sped past.
The Model A was first produced in 1927 and was a huge success for Ford. It replaced the Model T which had been in existence for 18 years. By February of 1929 1,000,000 Model As had been sold and by July of that same year 2 million were sold. Priced between $500 and $1200 , it offered price points for Americas middle class.
